Paul holds adjunct faculty status at the Australian Graduate School of Management at the University of New South Wales, serves as a Board Member and NSW Councillor of the Australian Institute of Company Directors , is a Trustee and Council Member of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance & Accountancy (CIPFA), is currently the Vice President of the Institute of Strategic Risk Management (ISRM) ANZ, and Treasurer of the Society for Risk Analysis.

Paul is Chair of Oxford University Green Templeton College (GTC) Alumni-Oceania, having established the chapter in 2024. The Oxford GTC Oceania chapter is the largest and most active of all Oxford college alumni chapters across Australia and New Zealand, with the largest membership outside the UK. Paul was previously the Honorary Professor, Faculty of Law, at the University of Technology Sydney.

He holds a commerce degree from the University of Sydney, a law degree from the University of New South Wales, and an MBA from the University of Technology Sydney. He also holds a Graduate Diploma in Applied Corporate Governance from the Governance Institute of Australia and the International Company Directors Diploma from the Australian Institute of Company Directors. In 2000, he completed the Oxford Advanced Management Program at Oxford University and in 2009, the Executive Development Program at The Sloan School, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Paul is currently completing the Public Leadership Credential at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.

The first half of Paul’s career was spent in the financial services sector, including acting as the Vice President and Director of Citicorp Life Ltd and Citicorp Investments Ltd (Citigroup) and the Senior Manager and Associate Director at Deloitte Financial Services.
